Utsuwa Kyoto Yamahon presents a solo exhibition of Tetsuya Otani who makes tableware of white porcelain and ovenware.
His works have beauty, which doesn’t have any superfluous decoration, and that seems functionality becomes form. His works look simple, however, we can feel rich expression and warmth from the slightly curved form and the gentle white glaze. His tableware can be used in any situation .We hope you all enjoy the exhibition.

Utsuwa Kyoto Yamahon presents a solo exhibition of Susumu Joh who is a potter in Iga, Mie. His representative works are tableware such as plates, bowls, cups and pots, however, he also makes cooking pots and baking ware, which can be used on fire or in an oven. Focusing on cooking pots and baking ware, we will exhibit his regular works.

Momoo Omuro is a glass artist using technique of pâte de verre, which means paste of glass in English. The technique is quite different from that of glassblowing. Her works don’t look hard, but give us soft impression like pottery formed by hand. We hope you enjoy the profound works.

Utsuwa Kyoto Yamahon presents a solo exhibition of Masanobu Ando who makes pottery in Tajimi, Gifu. He makes a million kinds of pottery, which can be used in daily life, and he also makes artwork series called “Kekkai” which is the word represents sacred space that is divided from the world we live. We also exhibit tea utensils for Chinese tea that he focuses on recently. We hope you will enjoy the exhibition.

We are pleased to presented an exhibition of Yoshitake Kihira who is an woodworking artist based in Toyota. This exhibition will be his first solo exhibition in Kansai area. His new works such as bowls and plates made of Japanese cedar will be exhibited. He doesn’t use lathes, but only planes to shape, so that his works have characteristic atmosphere. We hope you will enjoy the exhibition.

We will have the exhibition of Hideki Yokoyama who makes glassworks in Izuka City, Fukuoka. He studied under Shinzo Kotani. He learned the glasswork physically rather than as knowledge. He never use a thermometer. He observes the condition of glass melting in a crucible and decides what to make for the day. It would be not efficient, however, each work has difference and that makes us take time to choose one.

Masaomi Yasunaga is an artist who makes pieces of work, which are made of only glaze from feldspar, and a little metal powder, sand, and plant fiver. He uses molds to shape them, and chemical reaction gives them characteristic texture. We can see his skill and sensibility from his exhibits.

The first exhibition in 2016 is Noriyuki Furutani’s works made at Anderson Ranch Art Center in Colorado. He was invited by the center as a guest artist, and he had taught the local artists how to make his works in Japan, for 2 months. We will exhibit his works made with local glaze and clay that are called Iron Red or Yellow Slip.
